We’re far past Peak Quantifiable Self, but I still like personal data. I track my weight, my location, and my activities in ways that help me stay accountable to myself and my family. I never turn off Google Location History, I use my Chrome Browser History to reconstruct my days, I keep detail handwritten journals for my health, family, work, and poetry, and I track every stretch. Here’s a look at my year:
- I exercised 2.8 days per week— a total of 147 days out of 365. This includes going to Lifetime Fitness 88 times, Soho House 6 times, and a number of hotel fitness centers
- My average weight was 194.2 pounds, up from 193.3 last year, so that was kind of a bummer. I blame 45. My top weight was 201.4 and my lowest was 187.7
- I took 26 trips this year, including 8 to Baltimore/ DC
- I spent 137 days out in the suburbs with my kids, and a total of 181 days with them overall, including a number of college prep and dropoff trips as well as an epic LA journey
- A total of 73 nights away from home— 47 for work, 15 with the kids, and 11 w/ S-L
