Twenty-five years ago, I was obsessed with the events leading to the Tiananmen Square Massacre of June 3 – 4, 1989. From the very first article in the New York Times on April 18 that covered burgeoning unrest, I was mesmerized by what was going on in this opaque place.
After the massacre, I was crushed. I visited the Chinese consulate here in Chicago and delivered a one based on the Goddess of Freedom and Democracy in Tiananmen Square, involved 30+ people. I’m excited to keep growing.
