Here's the fun-time traffic highlights for the weekend in NYC. Highlights: Kiante the Sneaker Mann Back
to School Block Party, the Sunnyside Shines BID Weekend Walk, and the Lincoln Square Neighborhood
Center Street Festival.
Weekend Bridge and Street Closures – August 1-2
New Jersey-bound lanes of the Holland Tunnel will be completely closed
to traffic from 1:00 am to 8:00 am Saturday and Sunday for repaving.
The project is weather sensitive and closures may be cancelled due to
inclement weather.
One of three lanes on the Brooklyn-bound roadway of the Brooklyn Bridge
will be closed from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday for construction
activity.
The 145th Street Bridge over the Harlem River will be closed from 12:01
am to 7:00 am on Saturday and Sunday to permit testing of electrical
and mechanical equipment that operates the movable swing span.
Motorists and pedestrians may use adjacent bridges.
Two of three northbound lanes of the FDR Drive between East 96th Street
and East 120th Street and the FDR Drive northbound entrance at East
96th Street will be closed from 1:00 am to 9:00 am Saturday and Sunday
for roadway milling and resurfacing.
There will be partial closures on West Street northbound between Spring
Street and West Houston Street from 12:01 am Saturday to 11:59 pm
Sunday to facilitate crane operation. Motorists should consider an
alternate route such as northbound Hudson Street. Southbound traffic is
not affected.
Stone Street between Coenties Alley and William Street in Manhattan
will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm through November 30 for a
pedestrian mall.
Mulberry Street between Canal and Broome Streets and Hester Street
between Mott and Mulberry Streets in Manhattan will be closed Friday
through Sunday until September 1 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for a
pedestrian mall.
46th Street between Queens Boulevard and Greenpoint Avenue in Queens
will be closed on Saturdays through August 29 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
for Sunnyside Shines BID Weekend Walks.
Van Duzer Street between Beach and Wright Streets in Staten Island will
be closed on Saturdays through August 22 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for
NYCDOT Downtown Staten Island Council Pedestrian Streets.
The following streets will be closed on Saturday:
– Lispenard Street between Church Street and Broadway in Manhattan will
be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Kiante the Sneaker Mann Back
to School Block Party.
– Jamaica Avenue between Parsons Boulevard and 169th Street in Queens
will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Jamaica Music and Arts
(JAMS) Festival.
The following streets will be closed on Sunday:
– 5th Avenue from 48th Street to 52nd Street in Brooklyn will be closed
from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for Sunset Park BID Street Festival.
– Knickerbocker Avenue from Suydam Street to Starr Street in Brooklyn
will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for Sunday Scene on
Knickerbocker.
– Columbus Avenue between 66th and 72nd Streets in Manhattan will be
closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Lincoln Square Neighborhood
Center Street Festival.
– 6th Avenue between 42nd and 56th Streets in Manhattan will be closed
from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Avenue of the Americas Street Festival.
– Madison Avenue from 41st Street to 23rd Street, 40th and 41st Streets
between Park and 5th Avenues, and 27th Street between Park and 5th
Avenues in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the
Pakistan Day Parade and Festival.
– Bayard Street between Mott and Baxter Streets in Manhattan will be
closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Asian Americans for Equality
Bayard Street Festival.
– Flatbush Avenue between Parkside Avenue and Empire Boulevard in
Brooklyn will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Flatbush
Street Festival.
– Claremont Parkway between Crotona Parkway East and Crotona Avenue,
and Crotona Avenue between Claremont Parkway and Crotona Park North in
the Bronx will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the National
Association of Ghanaians Parade.
The times listed for closures for street fairs are for the actual times
of the street fairs themselves. The streets may be closed longer to
allow for set-up and breakdown. Street fair organizers are generally
permitted to begin set-up at 8:00 am and breakdown must be completed by
7:00 pm.
