Colleen O’Neil

My niece, Colleen O’Neil, works at Catherine Cook School. She was featured in their newsletter last month. Here’s the interview:

Q: What inspires you to work in an environment with children?
A: Both my aunt and my great-grandmother were teachers, and they inspired me to nurture the next generation and help them grow into confidColleen_oneil_2ent, responsible, unique adults. But I simply just love being with children of all ages. Watching them learn, supporting them in all their endeavors, just fills me with joy.

Q: What are your favorite shoes?
A:Actually, I love being barefoot. Feeling the earth beneath my feet is a wonderful feeling. I do have a pair of flip-flops that I wear non-stop during the summer because I can slip out of them whenever I want, so I can walk on the grass unencumbered.

Q: What is your favorite book?
A: I love fantasy and science fiction novels. My favorite of those is a series by Terry Goodkind called “Sword of Truth” in which the protagonist learns of a world full of magic and wonder, and learns much of himself in the process.

Q: What do you like most about being part of the Catherine Cook Family?
A: What I love is that it does actually feel like a family, instead of just a school or a workplace. I get to work with students of all ages, and with most of the teachers in the building in one capacity or another, and the overall atmosphere is very nurturing and devoted to helping these children become amazing human beings.
