Well there ya go. Here’s text from CDPH.
Loop Restaurant Shut By City Health Department
Fruit Fly Infestation UnacceptableA Loop restaurant was shut down earlier today when Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) inspectors discovered an infestation of fruit flies.
Fulton’s on the River, 315 N. La Salle Street, was shut down after inspectors discovered hundreds of fruit flies in the kitchen and storage areas.
Today’s inspection was triggered by a customer who called 311 to complain of becoming ill after eating raw oysters at the restaurant.
The enforcement action was the 156th time in 2008 that Health Department inspectors have shut a food establishment for violations of the Chicago Health Code.
Representatives of Fulton’s on the River will have to explain themselves at an administrative hearing on October 2 and pay fines expected to total $750.
Chicagoans who believe that a restaurant or other food establishment is operating in an unsafe manner are encouraged to dial 311 and report it.
Update: all is well as of Monday, August 25, 2008, according to an unusual follow-up from CDPH:
Fulton’s on the River Gets Clean Bill of Health
Inspection by City Health Dept. Shows Full ComplianceA Loop restaurant re-opened at 5:00 p.m. today after receiving a clean bill of health from the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH).
Fulton’s on the River, 315 N. La Salle Street, passed a thorough re-inspection today, with not even a minor food safety violation noted.

We will return to our normal operating hours, which includes dinner seven days a week and lunch Monday – Friday. We are fully operational for all of our private events and weddings. We are extremely appreciative of the Chicago Department of Public Health’s expeditious re-inspection today and look forward to creating great dining experiences for all our guests.”
