Hand-Painted Newstand at 4700 South Michigan Avenue

I encountered this gem while on a car tour of Bronzeville a couple weeks ago. I wish I had gotten out to get some better shots of it. Here it is:

Bronzeville, August 2011 > Plywood News Stand with Hand-Painted Dancing Peanuts, Musical Notes, and Advertistement for Hand-Made Speakers

Here are closeups of each element:

Hand-Painted Newstand at 4700 South Michigan Avenue: Chi-Town Steppers
Hand-Painted Newstand at 4700 South Michigan Avenue: Peanut Man
Hand-Painted Newstand at 4700 South Michigan Avenue: Sun-Times

And the text:

Chi-Town Steppers
The Peanut Man
Dancing Peanuts– Mr. Peanut in the middle flanked by two female peanuts
“Defender Sold Here” sign
Sun-Times
Defender
Hand-Made Speakers by T.M. Bombs
(773) 858-1151

Good stuff.
