There’s a certain sound for 37 degree snow— squishy but firm, loud and crisp under boots. That’s the sound of today in the marsh.
When color’s removed from photos, things look stark and bold and sterile, but today there’s a splashy orange feel IRL.
And I appreciate the water drops of January. Not frozen; mobile.
Evidence of fellow travelers.
And vestigal leaves in pooling water.
