New Camera, New Attitude

My brother and sister-in-law sent me two lenses that used to belong to her father. One is a Minolta Maxxum AF 70-210mm F/4 telephoto lens and the other is a Minolta MD Tele Rokkor 135 mm f/2.8.

My plan was to buy a lens adapter that would allow me to use these lenses on my Canon 60D. But when I went to Central Camera to get one, they told me that this was a less than great idea.

Central Camera is the kind of place you can trust. When they tell you what to do about photography, you do it. They basically said that adapters never really work all that well and that I could get a vintage 1985 Minolta Maxxum 7000 for $75.

This was the “first camera to feature both integrated autofocus (AF) and motorised film advance, the standard configuration for later amateur and professional single lens reflex cameras”.

With this camera, I am able to use the longer lens all day all night. So I got that completely outfitted— bought the original user’s manual, a strap, and some black / white film.

So I’m all set with a new photo attitude. This camera is great for portraits, given its focal length and crispness. I have been kind of bored with myself lately, and I am grateful for the spark. If you want a 1985 holiday pic, hmu and let’s hang out.
