New Logan Square Restaurant? Yaz & Cam at 2529 North Milwaukee

It looks like there is going to be a yet another new restaurant in Logan Square, this time at 2529 North Milwaukee, former home of a banquet hall.

I’m guessing this is going to be a new restaurant based on the fact that there is a new liquor license for that address on EveryBlock for “Yaz & Cam Inc.”

It’s right next door to the Milshire Hotel (no, not the Wilshire Hotel), which has the distinction of having probably the most entertainingly negative reviews I’ve ever seen on Trip Advisor.

There’s not much more to be had yet, but Loopnet has some details on the “off market” property:

Approximately 3,700 Square Feet of built-out restaurant space. Very spacious kitchen suitable for any restaurant, catering or event space. 2539 N. Milwaukee is also for sale/lease and is approximately 1,200 Square Feet suitable for a private party room or any retail purpose. Space can be divided.

Things are changing very quickly in Logan Square, as rachelleb covers very well in this post from a couple months ago (also see the commenter’s note about this place having a suitable restaurant build-out). Google Maps still has this place as the R & A Discount Outlet. Here it is (san the fancy-pants marble-ish tiles):

Anyway, back to Yaz & Cam. I’m not sure what kind of place it’s going to be, and there’s not much to be had in the Illinois Corporation records (i.e. the owner doesn’t seem to be an existing restaurant group) except to say that the President of Yaz & Cam is a guy name Raul Perez. If he’s the same Raul Dino Perez who’s all over the Latin House Experience circa 1996, then we’re in pretty good shape!

Do you know anything more? Let us know in the comments.

UPDATE: I rolled by there today (9/9/10) to take a look.

Exterior: Yaz & Cam at 2529 North Milwaukee

Some workers were dealing with sewer service. It’s a “double wall” between the sidewalk vault and the basement of the place. Certainly it’s got a fresh look, including think granite-like siding on the first floor.

That’s one thing I think is under-rated now but will be appreciated in the future– just in this one blog post, we’ve got three incarnations of the same building from the last few years. As we all tweet and post and snap, it’s easy to forget that.

They’re also selling some tables + chairs, if you’re interested:
