New York City Department of Transportation Weekend Traffic Updates, November 20 – 22, 2009

Manhattan

Northbound West Street, Route 9A (Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Albany Street): One of three lanes will be closed Saturday 6:00 am to 5:30 pm to facilitate NYSDOT roadway reconstruction.  

Southbound West Street Route, 9A (Liberty Street to Albany Street):
Two of three southbound lanes will be closed Saturday 6:00 am to 11:00
am and one of three southbound lanes will be closed from 11:00 am
Saturday to 5:00 pm Sunday to facilitate NYSDOT roadway reconstruction.

West Street Underpass (Southbound route 9A to Brooklyn Battery Tunnel): This ramp will be closed Saturday 6:00 am to 5:00 pm to facilitate NYSDOT roadway reconstruction.  

Northbound West Street, Route 9A (West 49 Street to West 51 Street):
Two of four northbound lanes will be closed 12:01 am to 10:00 am
Saturday and Sunday and one of four northbound lanes will be closed
10:00 am to midnight Saturday and 10:00 am to 10:00 pm Sunday to
facilitate Con Edison roadway pavement restoration work.
Note: Assigned alternative route detour will be provided on West 48th St, 11th Avenue returning to West 51st Street.
Note:
Southbound Dedicated Left Turn Lane to West 50th Street will be closed
during the weekend work.  Motorists will be directed to West 42nd
Street turning bay.

6th Avenue between Grand Street and Watts Street: Two lanes of traffic will be maintained from 12:01am Saturday to Noon Sunday to facilitate crane removal operation.

West 20th Street between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 9pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 21st Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 24th Street between 7th Avenue and 6th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 29th Street between Park Avenue South and Madison Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 9pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 45th Street between 5th Avenue and Avenue of the Americas: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 4am to 8pm to facilitate crane removal operation.

East 49th Street between 2nd Avenue and 1st Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 50th Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 4pm and Sunday from 12 Noon to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 51st Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 9pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 56th Street between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 7am to 7pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 65th Street between West End Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 4pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 76th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 5pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 78th Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 3pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 91st Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue: This street will be closed Friday from 9am to 2pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 110th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue:
This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday for a maximum of
three hours between 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane removal operation.

East 111th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday 6am to 6pm to facilitate crane removal operation.

Rector Street (from Washington Street to Northbound West Street, route 9A):
This street will remain closed until December 8, 2009.  The street will
be open for emergency vehicle access on the weekend of Nov 21-22 during
a nearby crane demobilization. 

Grand Street between 6th Avenue and Thompson Street: This street will be closed limited hours between 12:01am Saturday to 8am Sunday only during crane disassembly.

Watts Street between 6th Avenue and Thompson Street: This street will be closed limited hours between Saturday 12:01am to Sunday 8am only while crane is dissembled.

Thompson Street between Broome Street and Spring Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 9pm to facilitate crane operation.

Charlton Street between Avenue of the Americas and Varick Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.

Leonard Street between Lafayette Street and Broadway: This street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.

Carlisle Street between Washington Street and Greenwich Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 9pm to facilitate crane removal operation.

Carlisle between Washington Street and West Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 9pm to facilitate crane removal operation.

Washington Street between Carlisle Street and Albany Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 9pm to facilitate crane operation.

Stone Street between Coenties Alley and Williams Street:
This street will be closed Monday April 27th through November 30th from
11am to 6pm for the Stone Street Pedestrian Mall as permitted by the
Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Manhattan/Brooklyn

Manhattan Bridge:
One of three lanes on the lower roadway westbound will be closed
Saturday and Sunday from 5am to 7pm for NYCDOT structural repairs.

Brooklyn Bridge: One of three lanes eastbound to Brooklyn will be closed Saturday from 6am to 2pm to facilitate NYCDOT bridge repair work.

Brooklyn

Southbound Adams Street Service Road between Tillary Street and Red Cross Place: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 6am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.

Gallatin Place between Livingston Street and Fulton Street: This street will be closed Saturday from 10pm to Sunday 6am to facilitate crane operation.

Brooklyn/Queens

Grand Street Bridge over Newtown Creek:
This bridge will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 7am to 5pm to
facilitate NYCDOT bridge repairs. Motorists should follow posted detour
and use Metropolitan Avenue Bridge.

Queens

35th Avenue between 36th Street and 37th Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.
