NYC Weekend Bridge and Street Closures – June 13-14

Here's what to watch for, traffic-wise, in NYC this weekend:

Broadway is closed to through traffic at Times Square (47th to 42nd Streets) and Herald Square (35th to 33rd Streets). Motorists traveling southbound can continue through Times Square using 7th Avenue. All crosstown streets remain open.

New Jersey-bound lanes of the Holland Tunnel will be completely closed to traffic from 1:00 am to 8:00 am Saturday and Sunday for repaving. The project is weather sensitive and closures may be cancelled due to inclement weather.

The south outer roadway of the Queensboro Bridge eastbound to Queens will be closed from 1:00 am to 9:00 am on Saturday and from 1:00 am to noon on Sunday to facilitate NYCDOT bridge work. Motorists should use the lower inner roadway and enter from 2nd Avenue at East 59th Street or use the south upper roadway approach from East 57th Street or East 58th Street.

All lanes on the lower level of the George Washington Bridge Lower Expressway New York bound will be closed on Saturday from 12:01 am to 8:00 am. The Henry Hudson Parkway ramp to the eastbound Cross Bronx Expressway will be closed from 12:01 am to 8:00 am and traffic will be diverted to the 178th Street Ramp.

All lanes on the lower level of the George Washington Bridge lower level will be closed in both directions on Sunday from 1:00 am to 10:00 am for the American Cancer Society GWB Challenge.

The 145th Street Bridge over the Harlem River will be closed for testing of the bridge machinery on Saturday from 12:01 am to 7:00 am. Motorists and pedestrians can use adjacent bridges during these times.

The 79th Street Central Park Transverse Roadway between 5th Avenue and Central Park West will be closed from 12:01 am to 5:00 am Saturday to facilitate NYCDOT bridge inspection.

Two out of three northbound lanes of Route 9A (West Street) between Rector Street and Albany Street will be closed from 9:00 pm Friday to 10:00 am Saturday to facilitate Con Ed utility work by New York State DOT. Motorists are encouraged to consider alternative routes.

Stone Street between Coenties Alley and William Street in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm through November 30 for a pedestrian mall.

Mulberry Street between Canal and Broome Streets and Hester Street between Mott and Mulberry Streets in Manhattan will be closed Friday through Sunday until September 1 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for a pedestrian mall.

Vanderbilt Avenue between Dean Street and Park Place in Brooklyn will be closed on Sundays from June 14 until June 28 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for Summer Streets on Vanderbilt.

East 4th Street between Bowery and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan will be closed on Saturdays from June 13 until June 27 from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm for Meet the Street.

Madison Avenue between 23rd and 26th Streets in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday for the Big Apple BBQ.

Brighton Beach Avenue between Ocean Parkway and Brighton 15th Street in Brooklyn will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday for the Brighton Beach BID Sidewalk Sale.

The following streets will be closed on Saturday: – 2nd Avenue between 23rd and 34th Streets in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Friends of 13th Precinct Fair. – 1st Avenue between 68th and 79th Streets in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Lenox Hill Neighborhood Festival. – 116th Street between 2nd and Lexington Avenues and 3rd Avenue between 106th and 122nd Streets in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the 116th Street Festival. – 5th Avenue from 59th Street to Washington Square Park in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm for the Hare Krishna Parade. Washington Square South between Thompson Street and LaGuardia Place will be closed from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm for the Hare Krishna Festival. – South Street between John and Beekman Streets in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for Children’s Day at the South Street Seaport. – 7th Avenue from Lincoln Place to 15th Street; 15th Street to Prospect Park West in Brooklyn will be closed from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm for the Brooklyn Pride Parade. Prospect Park West between 9th and 15th Streets will be closed from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm for the Brooklyn Pride Festival. – Bedford Avenue between North 4th and North 9th Streets in Brooklyn will be closed from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm for Williamsburg Walks. – Surf Avenue from West 10th Street to West 21st Street and West 21st Street from Surf Avenue to the Boardwalk in Brooklyn will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Mermaid Parade.

The following streets in Manhattan will be closed on Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the National Puerto Rican Day Parade: – Formation Area: 44th Street and 45th Street between Broadway and Vanderbilt Avenue; 46th Street between 6th Avenue and Vanderbilt Avenue; 47th Street between 6th Avenue and Park Avenue; 48th Street between 6th Avenue and Madison Avenue; the west side of Vanderbilt Avenue between 43rd and 47th Streets. – Route: 5th Avenue between 86th Street and 43rd Street – Dispersal Areas: 5th Avenue between 86th Street and 96th Street; 86th Street to 96th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue.

The following streets will be closed on Sunday: – 3rd Avenue between 23rd and 34th Streets in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Tilden Midtown Democratic Club Festival. – Grand Avenue between 65th & 72nd Streets in Queens will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the Maspeth Chamber of Commerce Festival. – The following streets in Manhattan will be closed from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm for the Autism Walk: South Street between Old Slip and Peck Slip; Peck Slip between South Street and Pearl Street; Pearl Street between Peck Slip and Frankfort St; Frankfort Street between Pearl Street and Park Row; Nassau Street between Spruce Street and Ann Street; Ann Street between Nassau and Gold; Gold Street between Ann Street and Fulton Street; Fulton Street between Gold Street and Water Street; Water Street between Fulton and Old Slip; Old Slip between Water Street and South Street. – The east side of Broadway between 73rd and 86th Streets in Manhattan will be closed from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm for the West Side Federations of Neighborhood and Block Associations Festival.

The times listed for closures for street fairs are for the actual times of the street fairs themselves. The streets may be closed longer to allow for set-up and breakdown. Street fair organizers are generally permitted to begin set-up at 8:00 am and breakdown must be completed by 7:00 pm.
