It's happy pants fun time in the big city this weekend. But don't let street closings catch you off guard. Here's what's up this fin de semana.
Manhattan
FDR Drive Southbound between East 53rd Street and East 49th Street: Two of three lanes will be closed Saturday between 2am and 5am to facilitate Con Edison Activity.
Northbound Route 9A (from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Albany Street): One out of three northbound lanes of the roadway will be closed round-the-clock from July 13 to August 1 to facilitate roadway and utility work by NYSDOT. The southern 2-block stretch from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Rector Street will be fully open during the am rush hours. During peak traffic hours the Trinity Place Exit of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel will be open to facilitate the flow of traffic.
Northbound Route 9A (from Canal St to West Houston Street): Two out of four northbound lanes of the roadway will be closed round-the-clock from 12:01 am Saturday, July 11 through 11:59 pm Sunday, July 12 to facilitate a major roof equipment hoist by a private company.
West 4th Street between Washington Square East and Mercer Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 7am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.
East 7th Street between Avenue C and Avenue D: This street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.
East 34th Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue: One lane in each direction will be maintained 8am to 2pm Saturday and/or Sunday to facilitate crane operation.
West 44th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.
West 54th Street between 8th Avenue and Broadway: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 5am to 1pm to facilitate crane operation.
West 58th Street between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 5am to 9pm to facilitate crane removal operation.
East 65th Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue: This street will be closed Sunday from 8am to 7pm to facilitate crane operation.
East 68th Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.
East 76th Street between 1st Avenue and York Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 4pm to facilitate crane operation.
East 88th Street between York Avenue and East End Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 3pm to facilitate crane operation.
Grand Street between Thompson Street and 6th Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 9am to 7pm to facilitate crane operation.
Rector Street Pedestrian Bridge (spanning Rte 9A & linking Battery Park City to the Financial District): The pedestrian bridge will be entirely closed starting approximately Monday, July 13th for approximately 10 weeks to facilitate a joint effort by NYSDOT and the Battery Park City Authority to repair and improve the bridge. Pedestrians wishing to cross Route 9A/West Street will be directed to use alternative at-grade crossings at Albany Street or West Thames Street.
Church Street (from Liberty Street to Fulton Street): This street will be closed from 9 pm Friday, July 10 to 9 am Saturday, July 11 to facilitate the removal of a crane from the WTC site by a PANY/NJ. A detour will be provided east on Liberty Street, north on Nassau Street and west on Fulton Street returning to Church Street.
Cortlandt Street (between Church Street and Broadway): This street will be closed from 9pm Friday, July 10 to 5am Monday, July 13 to facilitate the removal of a crane from the WTC site by a PANY/NJ contractor.
Greene Street between Spring Street and Prince Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 4pm to facilitate crane operation.
Broadway between West 46th Street and West 47th Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 12:01am to 7am to facilitate crane operation.
Mercer Street between Spring Street and Prince Street: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 4pm to facilitate crane operation.
Mulberry Street between Canal and Broome Streets; Hester Street between Mott and Mulberry Streets: This street will be closed Friday through Sunday until September 1st, 2009 from 11am to 6pm for the Mulberry Street Pedestrian Mall as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).
Stone Street between Coenties Alley and Williams Street: This street will be closed Monday April 27th through November 30th from 11am to 6pm for the Stone Street Pedestrian Mall as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).
Maiden Lane between Water Street and South Street: This street will be closed Friday from 11am to 6pm for the Community Board #1 Street Fair as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).
Father Duffy Square; Broadway between 46th Street and 47th Street: This street will be closed Saturday form 11am to 6pm for the Auto Show Fund Raiser as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).
Madison Avenue between East 42nd Street and East 57th Street: This street will be closed Sunday form 11am to 6pm for the National Ethnic Coalition of Organization Festival as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).
Military Island; Broadway between 43rd Street and 44th Street: This street will be closed July 11-14 from 11am to 5pm for the NAACP Diversity Job Fair as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).
Brooklyn
Brooklyn Queens Expressway northbound from Gowanus Expressway to Hicks Street entrance: One of two lanes on the BQE will be closed northbound from 11pm to 5am weeknights and 11pm Friday to 1am Saturday and 11pm Saturday to 1am Sunday, and again Sunday 7am to 12 Noon. This will not impact on Hicks Street entrance ramp to eastbound northbound BQE. A full closure will occur 1am to 7am Saturday and Sunday. This NYSDOT construction work will occur July 8 thru July 12, 2009.
Tillary Street entrance ramp to Westbound Brooklyn Queens Expressway: This ramp will be closed from 1am to 5am Saturday to facilitate NYSDOT construction activity.
Bay 7th Street between Benson Avenue and Bath Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.
Duffield Street between Willoughby Street and Fulton Street: This street will be closed Friday 9pm to Sunday 9pm to facilitate crane removal operation.
Palmetto Street between Knickerbocker Avenue and Wilson Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 5pm to facilitate crane operation.
Gates Avenue between Knickerbocker Avenue and Wilson Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8am to 5pm to facilitate crane operation.
52nd Street between 13th Avenue and 14th Avenue: This street will be closed Sunday from 9am to 6pm to facilitate crane operation.
Bedford Avenue between North 4th Street and North 9th Street: This street will be closed Saturday July 11, from 11am to 10pm for the Williamsburg Walks as permitted by the Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).
Formation & Start: Graham Avenue and Deboise Street
Route: Graham Avenue from Deboise Street to Grand Street; Grand Street to Lorimer Street; Lorimer Street to Montrose Avenue
End: Lorimer Street between Grand Street and Montrose Avenue
The above streets will be closed Sunday from 11am to 4pm for the International Children's Parade and Festival as permitted by NYPD.
Bronx
Broadway between West 240th Street/Van Cordtlandt Park and West 238th Street: This street will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 5am to 9pm to facilitate NYCT crane operation.
West 240th Street between Broadway and Corlear Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 5am to 9pm to facilitate NYCT crane operation.
West 239th Street between Broadway and Review Place: This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 5amto 9pm to facilitate NYCT crane operation.
Queens
28th Street between 39th Avenue and 38th Avenue: This street will be closed Friday and/or Saturday from 8am to 4pm to facilitate crane operation.
146th Street between Archer Avenue 91st Avenue: This street will be closed Saturday from 8am to 1pm to facilitate crane operation.
30th Avenue between 29th Street and 42nd Street: This street will be closed Sunday from 11am to 6pm for the Friends of Community Board #1, 30th Avenue Street Festival as permitted by Mayor's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Holland Tunnel-New Jersey Bound/Westbound: Beginning Saturday April 4th, 2009 and continuing Saturday and Sunday until completion with the exception of Holiday weekends, New Jersey bound lanes of the Holland Tunnel will be completely closed to traffic from 1am to 8am Saturday and Sunday for repaving. The project is weather sensitive and closures may be cancelled due to inclement weather. Motorist traveling to New Jersey during this period should use alternate.
