I manage the website for my parish, which means that I get a PDF of the weekly bulletin on Wednesday, the day that it also goes to the printer, JS Paluch. Going from PDF to posts is pretty easy, except for one thing: the carriage returns.
Carriage returns are necessary in PDFs (and/or the native software, which in this case is MS Publisher) to keep the text in proper columns. Here’s an example:
When I copy/ paste the text out of Preview (on a Mac), the goofy column line breaks come through, too. Taking them out one-by-one would be insane. Instead, BareBones’s free TextWrangler
(Mac OSX only) takes care of it.
With one command– (Text > Remove Line Breaks), all single line breaks are removed and all double carriage returns are removed.
And it’s free. See the text from the image on the web here.
